Lake Erie Agriculture Demonstrating Sustainability (LEADS)

The next LEADS intake opens November 2 at 9am EDT and closes November 8 at 5pm EST.

LEADS supports the implementation of best management practices (BMPs) on farms within the Lake Erie and Lake St Clair watersheds. Cost-share levels are determined by the risks identified through the completion of a Farmland Health Check-Up.

There are some significant changes to program.

  • Lifetime limit of $ 100,000 for all projects 2018-2023.
  • Claim date for all projects: September 30, 2022

Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP)

The CAP is a five-year federal-provincial-territorial initiative to strengthen the agriculture, agri-food, and agri-based products sector and increase its competitiveness, prosperity and sustainability.


Environmental Farm Plan (EFP)

The EFP is an assessment voluntarily prepared by farm families to increase their environmental awareness in up to 23 different areas on their farm.

Through the EFP process, farmers highlight their farm’s environmental strengths, identify areas of environmental concern, and set realistic action plans with time tables to improve environmental conditions.

The EFP can then be used in conjunction with cost-share programs to begin implementing their action plans.
