In its twenty-seventh year, the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame Association will induct eight leaders into the Hall of Fame Gallery at Country Heritage Park in Milton on Sunday June 11, 2006.

Of note to agriculture in southwestern Ontario is the appointment of George Edwin Jones, Fergus, (1923 – ). His colleagues called him the “Man who changed the way Ontario farms”. He is recognized for his outstanding career in plant breeding that led to corn becoming the dominant grain crop and livestock feed in Ontario.

During his distinguished forty-five year career in agronomy, extension work and teaching with the Ontario Agricultural College and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Stan was uniquely able to take technical and scientific information and communicate it effectively to laymen. As a prolific writer and editor he set the style and format of the Ontario Field Crop Recommendations, which for years was the authoritative guide for farmers and extension workers.
