Lambton Federation of Agriculture is pleased to announce the new executive. Brooke Leystra has taken over the position of president, with Dave Ferguson and Sarah Jackson as 1st and 2nd vice president.

Lambton Federation of Agriculture Scholarships

Each year the LFA awards 7 scholarships to Lambton County students. This year’s scholarships were awarded at the LFA Annual Meeting on November 15th.

2013 Scholarship Winners

Nicole Soetemans awarded the Women’s Institute Scholarship 

This year’s recipient has not only maintained a 95% average throughout her high school years, but had also been a team member in volleyball, soccer, badminton and minor hockey.  She has also coached the Junior Boys volleyball team.  She is a certified lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor and has her CPR-C certification.  She also plays piano, guitar and violin.  There are also a few hours available to pack eggs, and be a library assistant.

Nicole Soetemans is enrolled in UWO’s Bachelor of Medical Sciences Honours Degree pursuing her dream to find out more about both science and the human body and about the effects of drugs on biological systems. Congratulations to Nicole!

This scholarship is available to any student whose permanent address is in Lambton County that is entering their first or second year in any college or university in Ontario.  The student can be in any course of study that leads to a degree or diploma and the scholarship is currently valued at $500.

Lambton Federation along with BDO Dunwoody will be hosting an the 35th Annual Farm Financial Management and Tax Seminar day on Friday, November 29th at the Brooke Alvinston Inwood Arena.  To register please call the BDO office as soon as possible at 519-336-9900. Donations of non-perishable food or money for Christmas for Everyone organization would be appreciated.


There will be an information meeting, Hosted by Lambton Soil and Crop Improvement Association and Lambton Federation of Agriculture entitled ‘Residue Harvest, Cover Crops and Soil Quality on Wednesday December 4th from 1-4 at the Wyoming Legion.


The LFA is offering a seminar on December 9th at 10am on How to speak Government featuring Tom McLaren. How you communicate your message is as critical as the message itself. Building and maintaining effective relationships is also a key to ultimate success.  Learn to package your issues and inquiries in a way that will get attention and action with government and policy makers.  Cost is $15 and includes lunch – Pre-Registration is required. Congratulations to the commodity groups on the Locally Lambton Dinner which was hosted by the United Way.  Thank you for the donations by the commodity groups and local farms, a good crowd enjoyed many locally grown items and money was raised for a great cause.

Thank you to all the 4-H members that recently represented Lambton County at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. Also thank you to all the volunteers and leaders that helped with the 4-H members not only at the Royal Winter Fair but throughout the year. Your dedication to 4-H is greatly appreciated and has not gone unnoticed.

The Lambton Agricultural Hall of Fame Association is entering its fifth year in existence and we look forward to continuing our purpose of recognizing individuals and organizations for their achievements and service to agriculture.

We appreciate the support given to date by our many supporters, especially the LFA, and we’re looking forward to further developing our relationship with the County of Lambton with some exciting developments to be announced in 2014.

To assist in continuing this worthy endeavour, we’d appreciate your contribution in the form of nominations or by joining our organization through membership.

Consider submitting a nomination for individuals or an organization with details of their contributions to agriculture.

Lifetime memberships are also available for individuals at $25 and businesses at $100.
