Dear Ms. Baca-Diaz,

On behalf of Lambton Federation of Agriculture, I would like to acknowledge that we fully support the Ontario Federation of Agriculture’s application to the AAC CanAdvance Program for the “Carbon Credit Aggregator Project” with the goal of enhancing farm income through carbon credit generation and trading.

The LFA supports the objectives of this project in addressing the need for an in-depth feasibility study into what is needed to make carbon credit trading a real opportunity for Ontario’s farmers.  Furthermore, as a national and provincial carbon offset systems have been proposed to launch over the next several years, we recognize that it is imperative an aggregator be established before this date in order for farmers in Ontario to capture this market opportunity.

This project will provide necessary groundwork prior to the start of a federal or provincial carbon offset market.  The results of this project will work towards defeating major challenges and barriers to access the carbon market, while examining the risks and responsibilities farmers will need to consider should they want to participate.

We look forward to working with the Ontario Federation of Agriculture to further develop this project to the benefit of all Ontario farmers.

Sincerely,

~Ken Dunlop~
