2023-2024 Scholarships:


Joyce Anderson Scholarship ($2,000)

  • Administered by The Sarnia Community Foundation – Executive Director Mike Barron sent his regrets.
  • This year’s recipient is Emma Ouellette from St. Clair Township.
  • Emma is enrolled at University of Western Ontario in Management and Organizational Studies. She is working towards earning an Honours Specialization in Management and Legal Studies.
  • Emma hopes to continue to run the family farm and expand the operation into new products.

Bill and Dorothy Abraham Scholarship ($1,000)

  • This year’s recipient was Kaiden Howes from St. Clair Township.
  • Kaiden is enrolled at Ridgetown College seeking an Associate Diploma in Agriculture CO-OP (2 year program).
  • Kaiden is looking forward to working on a large scale farm, further developing his skills, experiences and knowledge upon graduation from College.

Patrick and Timothy Kerrigan Scholarship ($1,000)

  • The Kerrigan scholarship was started in 1988 (with funding replenished in 2021 upon the passing of Tim).
  • This year’s recipient is Kayla Kucera from Alvinston.
  • Kayla is enrolled at University of Western Ontario in the Master of Physical Therapy Program.
  • Kayla hopes to work in a rural community as a physiotherapist and aims to promote healthy active living.

Bell One Scholarship ($1,000)

  • This year’s recipient is Morgan Bastiaansen from Thedford.
  • Morgan is enrolled at the University of Guelph in Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics with a minor in Business.
  • Morgan is currently employed in a student role at Farm Credit Canada and hopes to return in a full time position after graduation while staying involved in some capacity with the family layer/pullet farming operation or greenhouse business.

Bell Two Scholarship ($1,000)

  • This year’s recipient was Laura Vandendool from St. Clair Township.
  • Laura is enrolled in the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus’s Associate Diploma in Agriculture (two-year program).
  • Laura hopes to continue studies towards a certificate in artificial insemination with the possibility of continuing education at the University of Guelph to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture.

Dona Stewardson Scholarship ($1,000)

  • This year’s recipient was Ashley Boere from Warwick Township
  • Ashley is enrolled in the Brock University – Concurrent Education program (Intermediate/Senior)
  • Ashley is deciding on whether to continue post-graduate studies. She wants to specialize in Geography to be connected to agriculture for educating young people, the careers in the field, the challenges farmers face every day, how climate and weather can affect field yields, or why crop rotation is so important.

Lois Wakefield Scholarship ($1,000)

  • This year’s recipient was Ashley Sawyer from Alvinston.
  • Ashley is enrolled in Wilfred Laurier University – Bachelor of Business Administration, Majoring in Business Administration.
  • Ashley plans return to this area where he can provide accounting services to rural and farming clients.

Lambton County Women’s Institute Scholarship ($1,000)

  • In 2021, the Lambton County Women’s Institute entrusted the LFA with money to continue the scholarship in their name.
  • This year’s recipient is Savannah Morrison from Plympton-Wyoming.
  • Savannah is enrolled at Brescia University College for the 2023 Fall term to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Science.
  • Savannah is planning to pursue a degree in Education towards teaching Biology as well as Foods and Nutrition at the secondary level.

We had one scholarship left over this year, for which we didn’t have applications.

  • Don McCabe Scholarship ($1,000)
