Facilitated by Lauren Van Eywk of Wellspring Counselling, and featuring Christy Hiemstra, of Clovermead Adventure Farm and Danielle Stewart with Workplace Safety and Prevention services as a Consultant focusing on Workplace Mental Health.
Come and hear Christy’s powerful story, and help us open the doors to Mental Health for everyone.
Christy Hiemstra owns the Clovermead Adventure Farm in Aylmer, Ontario along with her husband Chris. They purchased the family honeybee business in 2000, and grew the farm into an education and agri-entertainment business with the help of their 3 children. On Sept. 23rd, 2016, tragedy came to the Hiemstra family household when their youngest son, Jordan, died by suicide at the age of 17. This unexpected loss instantly opened the world of mental illness to Chris and Christy. These days Christy regularly shares her family’s story and her insights. She hopes it opens conversations to reduce the stigma of mental illness and also encourage those who suffer to safely share their struggles with someone.
