The Lambton Federation of Agriculture activated its new web site on July 2, 2002.
An official launch date is to be announced.

The site will keep members up to date on matters specific to the Federation, as well as keeping them up to date on news from Canada and around the world.

The site was developed under contract by Jelve Design of Waterford and Toronto. It is designed as a ‘portal’ site – not only for area farmers but for anyone interested in Lambton County. A portal is a site that is meant to be a starting point for using the Internet and the World Wide Web. In addition to LFA News, Coming Events and local Column and Issues pages, the site offers a wide selection of news headlines, updated hourly. Users can click on the headlines to read the full stories from the originating news sites. These sites include such sources as CNN, BBC, Toronto Star, Globe and Mail, New York Times and many more.

Local and national weather information is available along with links to several satellite and radar weather maps from Environment Canada and other meteorological authorities.

Market news and information is accessible from a comprehensive list of sources with reports on grain, vegetables and all types of livestock.

OMAFRA’s Crop Reports are easily accessed from the new site.

The site includes contact pages with which visitors may send messages to MP’s, MPP’s, Provincial and Federal Agriculture Ministers, the Ontario Federation of Agriculture and the LFA.

The new site is funded by advertisements from (mostly) local businesses and supporters. For our initial launch year, most of the revenue from advertising will fund the development and hosting of the site.

The LFA also expects the web site to generate some ‘excess’ funds which have been earmarked to be used for scholarships to Lambton students. Perhaps, your business or farm would like to help the LFA by placing an ad on this site. Follow the ‘Advertise’ link in the left-hand menu for complete information.

The Links pages on the new site offer a wealth of information in various categories. LFA members who wish to have a link to their farm, business or family web site should use the ‘Suggest a Link’ form to submit their information.
