Details are still being confirmed, but, we understand that on July 27, 2004 the Ministry of Agriculture announced that it will be phasing out its municipal drainage program grants.

As OFA understands it, these grant programs will be completely eliminated by the end of the next fiscal year.

The grant programs that have been terminated are:

  • a 1/3 grant (2/3’s in Northern Ontario) towards the cost of new municipal drainage works
  • a 1/3 grant (2/3’s in Northern Ontario) towards the cost maintenance and repairs for existing municipal drains
  • the 1/3 grants towards the cost of employing a municipal drainage superintendent will be retained, but the cost of this program will be reduced from 1.61 million to 1.5 million.

There will be an “information” session at 1 Stone Rd. on this on Friday July 30, in the Conference Room (mail floor), beginning at 10:00 AM. To confirm attendance, call Diana Shepard at OMAF; 519-826-3353 or toll-free at 1-888-466-2372; ext 63353)
