Several of you have asked how farmers using over 150,000 kwh per year can get the 4.3 centrate and particularly whether or not a farmer who gets the “designated consumer” letter from Hydro One or a P.U.C. should fill the letter in and return it.

Yes – farmers should complete and return the designated consumer letter before the April 30th deadline.

The form does not provide for a farm designation but Hydro One now knows that farmers are covered. So please fill in the information that is applicable (name, address, phone, hydro account numbers etc.) and write on the form clearly and conspicuously that you are a farmer and that add your farm business registration number.

In the near future (early May?) you will be getting a letter from Hydro One or their PUC specific for farmers. When that letter comes it too should be completed. This farmer specific letter will not go out until the regulations have been amended. That is underway.

Hydro One Customer Relations staff are being told to expect designated consumer forms completedby farmers with the farm business registration number.
