Last week’s provincial government announcement to terminate the municipal drains grant program has certainly caused a stir in the farm community. We have received numerous calls, counties have discussed resolutions and the media have reported a lot of criticism and concern.
We have, as you know, written to the Premier on the issue and are encouraging members to communicate their concerns with their MPP.
The government has just announced a series of INFORMATION MEETINGS on the changes to the Municipal Outlet Drainage Program and the Tile Loan Program.
The dates and locations are:
- August 16 – Stratford 10:00-12:00 Festival Inn, 1144 Ontario St.
- August 17 – Chatham 10:00-12:00 Wheels Inn, 615 Richmond St.
- August 18 – Barrie 10:00-12:00 Days Inn, 60 Bryne St.
- August 19 – Sudbury 10:00-12:00 Holiday Inn, 50 Brady St.
- August 23 – Maxville 10:00-11:00 Maxville Arena (FRENCH)
- August 23 – Maxville 11:00-12:30 Maxville Arena (English)
We hope you will encourage attendance at these sessions to understand the changes as well as to express concern with the termination of a popular program. Strategizing with municipal representatives would likely be useful.
