Locally Lambton Farm Map!
The Lambton Federation of Agriculture, along with several other local partners will launch the second printing of the “Locally Lambton Food and Fun Map” in early May, 2008. The map, first printed in 2006, will assist the public in locating businesses in Lambton where they can buy locally produced items. This year the map will also be online at www.locallylambton.com. Watch for the website launch in late May!
The map not only shows locations of farm markets, but farmers who sell products straight to the consumer. The map contains full information about each business. Products include fruits, vegetables, poultry & meats, herbs, maple syrup, honey, cider, and baked goods. As well as the edibles, there are locations for alpaca farms, yarns, flowers & greenhouses, rustic twig furniture, camps, petting zoos, corn mazes, bed & breakfast homes and local fairs.
Both tourists and local residents will find the map useful to assist them as they travel the back roads. There will be signs featuring the same “Locally Lambton” logo that appears on the map at all the participating farmers’ gates.
The map will certainly be beneficial in promoting on-farm sales, and encouraging the public and tourists to shop locally and hopefully benefit rural Lambton’s economy.
The map, printed on high-quality glossy paper, features an array of colourful photos depicting fruits, vegetables and other farm scenes.
Lambton Federation is seeking new participants who would be interested in participating in the next printing of the map. Participants who missed this printing will be eligible to be listed on the website at this time.
