The Lambton Farm Safety Association has been developing a new safety initiative, the Emergency Plan Database. This database will be invaluable to first responders in the event of an emergency on the property.

First Responders will have access to risks on the property such as chemicals, manure pits, livestock etc. This information is currently only available if the property owner is present and able to communicate, it is clear advance notice of such information can help save lives, limit property and livestock loss, as well as make the first responders aware of hazards they may face while dealing with the situation.

The Lambton Farm Safety Association is a group of volunteers that have been promoting farm safety to farmers, children and urban neighbours for years. This group of volunteers have been sourcing information and feedback from farmers and directly from first responders, in order to plan the most effective solution to this issue. The Lambton Federation of Agriculture fully supports the Emergency Plan Database.

We hope Lambton County is able to see this project to completion, and share the benefits and successes with other counties and farming organizations.

For the 2017 Lambton Federation of Agriculture Board of Directors,
