Item #1

Dec 19, 2011, Meeting with Sarnia-Lambton Business Development Corporation, Don Anderson, General Manager and Tracy Ranick, Community Economic Development Officer.

Don Anderson contacted me and wanted to talk about ideas on where LFA and SLBDC could work together, just a brain storming session, not a decision making session. I asked Martien Kusters to attend as he is new to executive and lives close to Sarnia.

When you summarize the discussion it mostly centred around education the consumer and awareness.

We discussed the “map” and how best to market it, do we print maps where we print the map and hand them out. Do we market it as internet-based, advertise the website and consumers can go to site find what they want and print a map if needed, it can be updated at any time. We could extend this to App’s for smart phones.

Other items discussed were Lambton County Cultural plan, Culinary Alliance, Farmers Market pilot at Marina last summer, and its future, along with numerous other thoughts.

Item #2

I also received the following invitation from the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce.

In the past decade the Chamber has made three important trips to Queens Park or to Parliament Hill in Ottawa. We are planning to go again April 24 and 25 to

  1. Present local and emerging issues before selected Ministries and
  2. To expand awareness of our community among MPP’s.

MPP Bob Bailey is excited that we are coming and has offered his help.

You are invited to be part of the planning/steering committee for this important membership activity.

I am unable to attend this meeting but did inform that I would be part of steering committee.
